Students of 6EW visit IKEA, the world’s largest furniture retailer since at least 2008

During Project Work the thirteen students of the sixth year Economics-Mathematics are introduced to the principles of marketing. Okke, Mudi, Toon, Indy, Sien, Ferre, Lisa, Merijn, Joke, Britt, Mirthe, Iris and Anne are going to set up and run their own business and IKEA Heerlen gave them the opportunity to prepare for this big adventure, on Friday 22nd September.

After consuming a delicious meal in the restaurant of IKEA, the marketing manager of IKEA revealed the marketing strategy of the company in a brief presentation. Then the students visited the store. They were encouraged to take a lot of pictures to prove several theses concerning advertising, such as IKEA respects the environment and IKEA is a family-friendly and child-friendly company.

In conclusion, a very inspirational afternoon! To be continued…
